Do you like talking to new people and learning about their opinions and experiences? The Center for Survey Research at Penn State Harrisburg is looking for reliable, professional individuals to conduct research telephone interviews at our call center located in Middletown, PA. This is not a telemarketing job. All interviews are conducted on-site. Advantages of the Telephone Interviewer position: flexible scheduling—you create your own schedule on a project-by-project basis (shift times are flexible as well); casual work environment; ability to participate in academic research (not sales!) with a major research institution; on-the-job, paid training. Current hours available are Monday through Thursday: 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.; Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Sunday: 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. This is a temporary position. Hours are offered on a project-by-project basis. Employees in good standing might be invited to return to work on future projects, but there are often breaks between projects. The successful applicant must have: a high school diploma or equivalent; ability to commit to a minimum of 9 hours per week on a regular schedule while a project is in progress; comfort with cold-calling randomly generated phone numbers to find and interview survey respondents; a clear speaking voice and ability to read in English in a conversational style; ability to adhere closely to a script, listen to and probe for proper responses, and follow rigorous research standards; ability to use a mouse and keyboard to record verbatim responses from respondents; a demonstrated commitment to quality and ability to maintain strict confidentiality; ability to attend mandatory training on a flexible time-frame in September 2016. Preferred qualifications include: previous experience with telephone survey work, customer service, or a call center environment; willingness to work weekends; willingness to work more than the required weekly minimum of 9 daytime hours (up to a maximum of 24 hours); provision of a cover letter and resume detailing your qualifications.
