Description

The Eberly College of Science is seeking a Director of Communications. This individual will be responsible for the creation, implementation, and oversight of the College of Science’s strategic plan for communications. This position will manage a team of professionals within the Communications Office responsible for the design, production, and dissemination of the key print and electronic materials which include a college magazine, electronic newsletters, periodic brochures, and special multi-media projects for the Dean and the academic departments. He/she will have the leading role in determining how the college will communicate and brand itself to the external audience. The position will also oversee the content and functionality of the College’s web and social media sites. The position reports to the Associate Dean for Administration and will oversee a team of at least seven direct reports. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Graduate degree preferred. Experience in marketing in a higher education setting preferred. Qualified candidates must possess a superior understanding of technology, strong communication and writing skills, assertive personality to access information, strong relationship-building skills to encourage information sharing, ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events. The Director of Communications must have an ability to understand how to utilize both traditional forms of communication (i.e. print material) and new media techniques to promote the College’s accomplishments to a wide and diverse audience.
