We are seeking a part-time Research Assistant (based at the Penn State University Park/State College campus) to help conduct an NIH-funded study exploring the feasibility of using compact pedaling devices to increase physical activity in the workplace. The work will take place under the supervision of Drs. Liza Rovniak (Principal Investigator) and Andris Freivalds (Co-Investigator). The successful candidate will be responsible for many important aspects of the research including: screening potential participants for study eligibility criteria; scheduling lab-based sessions; collecting and recording objectively-measured work performance and physical activity data in a lab setting; and assisting with data cleaning, statistical analyses, and manuscript preparation. Required skills: Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in a field such as psychology, kinesiology, or public health; driver`s license and willingness to occasionally travel between the University Park and Hershey campuses; ability to communicate clearly and professionally with participants and research team members; strong organization and administrative skills and excellent attention to detail; experience with data/file management; word processing (MS Word); spreadsheets (Excel); statistical software (e.g., SPSS), and presentations (PowerPoint). Preferred skills: extensive prior research experience including experience with data management, participant recruitment, statistical analyses, and project coordination. This is a part-time, approximately 6-month wage payroll position that will average approximately 10 to 20 hours per week.
