Description

The Lehigh Valley Campus of Penn State is seeking a Visual Communications Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and coordinating the graphic design of various marketing collateral for the college across a variety of media including—but not limited to—images and graphics to support web and social media marketing, print advertisements, campus publications (digital/print), direct mailings, brochures, flyers, and booklets. The Visual Communications Specialist will also ensure that all marketing collateral meets branding and quality standards, while also meeting appropriate deadlines. Must display attention to detail, be self-motivated, be able to multitask, and have the ability to work on multiple open projects with various departments at any given time. Must be able to apply creative thinking and utilize problem solving skills when working on projects. Must have strong writing, editing, verbal communication and organizational skills. Must be proficient with Mac operating system and be able to operate a camera. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing a strong understanding of Penn State University branding, as well as University editorial and visual guidelines. While it is not the norm, due to the nature of this position, occasional night and weekend work may be required. This position reports to the Director of University Relations. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicants with the following experience and skills will be given first consideration: Bachelor's degree in a design-related field; proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint; knowledge of standards in the printing industry; experience working with a CMS and web accessibility; social media experience a plus. Finalists will be required to provide a portfolio for review. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
