The Department of Public Health Sciences (DPHS) is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual to provide assistance to DPHS IT helpdesk and systems administration staff on a part-time basis. Major responsibilities include providing assistance in entering data about the department`s systems and resources, reviewing and updating systems and technical documentation, installing software, labeling and organizing computing equipment resources, assisting with delivery and installation of computer, networking, and related peripheral equipment, end user support, and general troubleshooting. Most of the department`s resources are Windows-based devices, but there also may be an opportunity to work with Linux, UNIX, and Macintosh operating systems. Required experience includes a working knowledge of Windows operating systems, fluency with MS Office software, some current or prior coursework or work experience in a technical support or technical service environment, and an understanding of ITIL concepts. Major skills required include the ability to enter and manipulate data with consistent accuracy, effectively catalog and organize resources, follow checklists, document technical constructs in detail, and work with spreadsheets and databases. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, a respect for accuracy, a solid understanding of hardware and software technologies, and have the desire to pursue a career in the field of information systems or technology. This is a seasonal part-time position up to 40 hours per week, depending on availability. Work hours are from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with no rotating weekend/holidays.
