Penn State University Marketing is looking for a Director of Creative Services to raise the bar for brand communications and advertising. The successful candidate will: Ensure brand strategy for Penn State is developed and communicated consistently across all consumer, vendor, employee and media contact points; organize and manage departmental workloads and reinforce a project traffic process which encompasses print, web, digital, video, and social media, to ensure a timely workflow and efficient use of resources; lead, coach and expand our in-house creative services unit through the creative process from brainstorming to creative execution; inspire team of graphic designers, copywriters/editors, photographers and web developers to produce world-class creative that is compelling, effective, on-target and on-strategy; demonstrate excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, and thrive in a collaborative creative environment; grow creative services unit by pushing creative and technical boundaries in web and multimedia experience design; demonstrate an intimate understanding of design, copywriting and web best practices and guidelines; exhibit superior relationship building and communications skills to inspire partnership and design integrity across decentralized units; work as an advocate for the university-wide community of designers to ensure and promote creative consistency and shared resources; convey visual and verbal ideas with ease and make compelling presentations to partners and stakeholders; demonstrate a record of managing cutting-edge, cost effective and original design solutions on a tight deadline; and, lead the team in digital design and SEO best practices. This job will be filled as a level 4, or level 5, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 4. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Master's degree is preferred. Experience with producing and/or art directing video content and in managing creatives in higher education marketing is a plus. The successful candidate should possess a strong understanding of brand development and multi-channel marketing concepts.
