Description

Capital Area Early Childhood Training Institute (CAECTI), Penn State Harrisburg invites applications for a part time, 20-hour per week, position as a STARS Technical Assistance Consultant to begin April 2016. Duties: provide on-site consultation services in early care and education programs for facilities participating in Keystone STARS Quality Improvement Program that are working to maintain their current STAR level or to achieve higher STAR levels; utilize a strengths-based coaching approach with a strong working knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in the ECE field in serving as a resource in the areas of: child development, child, program and staff assessment, program operations, leadership, curriculum and working with families, travel within the 17-county South Central region. A Master’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or elementary education (with coursework in early childhood education) and 2 years of experience working in early learning program along with supervisory, mentoring or coaching experience is preferred, or a Bachelor’s degree in related fields with 4 years of experience working in child care with a minimum of 2 years of supervisory, mentoring or coaching experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate highly-developed interpersonal skills as a coach or mentor, excellent communication and organizational skills, a proficiency in ECE developmentally appropriate practices and child development, working knowledge of Keystone STARS Quality Improvement system and the use of documentation technology.
