Job description: A postdoctoral position is available for highly motivated individuals at the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology/Oncology to study mechanisms of post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in cancer development and progression [.Nature. 2006;441(7095):898-901; Mol Cell. 2009;35(2):240-6; Cancer Res. 2009;69(22):8572-8; J Biol Chem. 2015 Jan 2;290(1):384-95]. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to lead the project elucidating mechanisms of metastatic melanoma invasion using in vitro and in vivo models. The successful applicant will be expected to work with literature to expand his/her knowledge in the field of cell migration and homing as well as possess technical expertise in monitoring cell growth and migration in mice. Participation in other research projects involving mouse model is anticipated. Accurate data recording, participation in laboratory meetings and routine laboratory maintenance is also expected. Required Qualifications: We are looking for well-organized, motivated individual who has an experience in managing colonies of transgenic mice and/or working with mouse models in cancer and/or hematopoietic research. Experience in standard molecular biology and tissue culture techniques is required. Experience in monitoring cell growth and migration as well as engraftment in mice is highly desirable. The ability to work independently, good problem solving skills, profound writing and communication skills are anticipated.
