The Network for Sustainable Climate Risk Management (SCRiM, seeks outstanding candidates for a postdoctoral research associate working in the area of Climate Data Products for Impacts Analysis and Decision Support Applications. Centered at Penn State and linking 18 universities and five research institutions in six nations, SCRiM addresses the question: What are sustainable, scientifically sound, technologically feasible, economically efficient, and ethically defensible climate-risk management strategies? SCRiM catalyzes fundamental, mission-oriented, and transdisciplinary research to characterize climate risks and trade-offs associated with risk management instruments such as mitigation, adaptation, and geoengineering. The network provides unique opportunities for transdisciplinary research collaboration, education, outreach, decision support, mentoring, and professional development. The successful candidate will work with SCRiM researchers and collaborators across multiple transdisciplinary projects to develop customized climate data products for climate impacts studies and decision support applications. These efforts will focus on the use of empirical/statistical downscaling and data-model fusion techniques to generate localized climate datasets that capture the broad range of structural, parametric, forcing, and spatio-temporal uncertainties identified as relevant for particular applications, including agriculture, forestry, transportation, and coastal infrastructure. Scholars with interests and/or experience in climate modeling, dynamical downscaling, uncertainty quantification, and data assimilation are also encouraged to apply. This position is available immediately and will remain open until filled. Initial appointment will be for a period of one year, with excellent possibility of renewal for one or more additional years. To apply for this position, use the “Apply To This Job” link below and upload a letter of interest, a CV, and contact information for three professional references as a single PDF file (maximum 5 MB).
