Description

The Department of Nutritional Sciences in the College of Health and Human Development at Penn State invites applications for a full-time, academic year (48 week), non-tenure track Instructor position beginning January 1, 2016 or earliest availability, to direct our new online Master’s program that is currently in development. The successful candidate will hold a Doctorate in Nutrition or a related field and must also be a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN). Online teaching experience that includes online course development also is desired. Primary responsibilities will be to serve as director of our online Master’s program and to teach in the program. Additional responsibilities will include overseeing student recruitment and advising, leading our online course development efforts, and assuring that the program meets future ACEND (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) accreditation requirements. There may also be opportunities to be involved with other aspects of teaching in our traditional curriculum and participate in additional activities in the department. This position will report to the Department Head in Nutritional Sciences and will collaborate closely with the College of Health and Human Development’s Outreach Office and Penn State’s World Campus on program management, online course design and technical support, as well as student recruitment, admissions, and support services. Salary is commensurate with experience. The initial fixed-term appointment will be for an academic two-year period that is eligible for renewal based upon satisfactory performance.
