This position will set up laboratory facilities, testing, processing, and characterization of advanced coatings, materials, and material systems for a broad range of programs, including those from the aerospace and marine industries. Responsibilities include: Determine if a coating will affect the dynamics of fluid flow for aerospace, energy, and marine applications; determine if a coating meets other criteria that are unique to those applications (select systems include ceramic, metallic, composites, and/or mixed combination for corrosion resistance, wear resistance, erosion resistance, and thermal protection); set up and monitor experimental designs; compile and analyze data for a wide range of materials and coatings comprised of nanocomposite, nanolayered, multilayered, functionally graded, and multifunctional material systems; other various characterization techniques; and compile data for analysis. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field. Experience in aerospace and marine design, testing, and characterization is preferred. Candidate selected may be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply.
