Description

We have openings for two funded undergraduate research internships for the Summer 2015 semester. Students will be paid to work full-time on a collaborative Digital Humanities project of their choosing for a total of 13 weeks. Working under the supervision of faculty in the University Libraries and College of the Liberal Arts, the selected interns will collaborate to design a research project, and develop the methods and skills to complete the research project over the course of the summer to an artifact of publishable quality. Interns will get the opportunity to learn about digital scholarship and computational approaches to Humanities research, as well as the fundamentals of data curation practices, digital preservation, digital analytics, and publishing and scholarly communications. Students will also take part in activities designed to enhance various aspects of their general professionalization. This internship will allow the selected students to hone their research skills, collaborate on a significant research project, gain an in-depth understanding of the methods and tools of the Digital Humanities, develop project management skills, practice habits of collaboration, and experience a professional setting in higher education. This internship opportunity is only open to students in the Liberal Arts. Applicants interested in discussing this internship further are encouraged to contact James O'Sullivan (josullivan@psu.edu) for any additional information that they might require. This is a paid internship and successful applicants will work 40 hours/week. To apply for this position, please complete the online application, and, in addition, please upload a resume. Review of applications will begin March 30, 2015, and continue until the positions are filled.
