Description

Penn State Undergraduate Admissions Office is seeking a systems administrator with extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Windows platform. This position will be part of the Systems and Infrastructure Group (SIG) in the Information Systems and Research (ISR) team. Duties will include, but are not limited to the following: maintain security of the infrastructure, server administration, network administration, system documentation, and user support. The individual applying for this position must have experience with Windows Server 2008/2012 and a firm understanding of a majority of the features and roles that are available. Knowledge of AD DS, Group Policy, Printer and Document Services, and IIS are a few of the features and roles that are strongly preferred. Familiarity with TCP/IP, IPv6, DNS, and DHCP protocols are also preferred. Experience with VMWare, Microsoft applications, CheckPoint, Microsoft SQL Server, monitoring/scanning software, and ColdFusion administration are desired. The successful candidate must possess solid interpersonal communication abilities, a desire to apply system administration best practices, and incorporate them into all infrastructure initiatives. Candidate should also be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross functional teams, on concurrent efforts. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Additional years of related work experience is preferred.
