Description

The Pennsylvania State University’s Department of Biobehavioral Health invites applications for a postdoctoral opportunity to help carry out research with Dr. Orfeu Buxton on the causes and consequences of sleep deficiency, and the physiologic and social mechanisms by which these relationships arise. We seek an emerging scholar to engage with a productive team of investigators. Primary responsibilities will depend on the candidate’s fit with laboratory priorities, and whether laboratory-based studies, field studies, or already-collected data will be a focus. For more details on current and past work of Dr. Buxton go to: http://bbh.hhd.psu.edu/faculty-staff . Responsibilities will include data collection and/or management; data analyses; preparation of manuscripts and conference presentations; and participation in interdisciplinary research groups. The scholar will have opportunities to publish, and access to exceptional resources to facilitate his or her independent research. Qualified individuals will have earned a Ph.D., MD, or equivalent training in biobehavioral health disciplines such as neuroscience, psychology, endocrinology, physiology, epidemiology, and biostatistics, and have demonstrated research excellence. The appointment will be for one year, with funding for at least one additional year depending on productivity. The position provides compensation and benefits exceeding those set by NIH for postdoctoral appointments. To apply and be considered for this opportunity, candidates must apply electronically by completing an on-line application and uploading the following: (1) a letter of application indicating a statement of research interests, career goals, and experience; (2) a curriculum vitae and (3) the names and contact information of three professional references. If selected as a finalist for the position, three letters of professional reference will be requested and sent directly from the recommender to Dr. Orfeu Buxton at Orfeu@psu.edu or Department of Biobehavioral Health, 219 Biobehavioral Health Building, The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA 16802. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. This post-doctoral position is scheduled to begin January 1, 2015 or as soon as practical thereafter. For more information, please contact Orfeu@psu.edu and indicate “Postdoc Opportunity” in subject line of all email correspondence. bbh.hhd.psu.edu/
